The Port of Shanghai, which includes both a river port and a deep-sea port, is situated close to Shanghai. When the Shanghai Port Authority was reorganized, the Shanghai International Port Group—the city's principal port enterprise—was created.

After Mundra Port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port—also referred to as JNPT and Nhava Sheva Port—is India's second-largest cargo port.[4][5] It is situated in Navi Mumbai, Raigad district, Maharashtra, on the eastern coast of the Arabian Sea, and is run by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust Authority (JNPTA). Thane Creek, a Navi Mumbai nodal city, provides access to this port.[6] After Mumbai Port, it serves as the primary port for the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, Maharashtra, and Western India. The names of the nearby village of Nhava-Sheva (new Sheva) are the source of its colloquial moniker. Additionally, it serves as the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor terminal.
